Gentle Bodywork for Wellness

The Foundation for Integrative Oncology offer a unique combination therapy consisting of Tui Na, CranioSacral work, and Jin Shin Jyutsu. This combination therapy, offered by Corliss Chan, may help reduce anxiety and stress, increase relaxation, allow patients to experience fewer side effects of chemotherapy and radiation, and increase energy levels.  A therapeutic session can be received while fully clothed.

Tui Na is a form of Asian bodywork that closely resembles western massage. It has been called acupressure massage. Many of the techniques are similar such as the gliding strokes of kneading, percussion, rocking, rotation, and vibration. Tui Na applies soothing, rhythmic compression along energy channels (known as meridians) of the body, as well as a variety of techniques that relax the joints and muscles. Tui Na seeks to promote a more harmonious flow of chi (life force energy) and blood through the meridians helping the body to restore its natural state of balance. Tui Na techniques can be modified to a level of gentleness that suits you. Other types of acupressure are gently offered as well.

During CranioSacral therapy, the skull is held in such a way as to relieve stress. The skull is gently manipulated in order to enhance the flow of energy. CranioSacral therapy is a gentle method of detection and correction that encourages your body’s own natural healing mechanisms to relieve the negative effects of accumulated stress.

Jin Shin Jyutsu facilitates the body’s profound healing capacity through helping balance its energy pathways. Jin Shin Jyutsu treatments support the body, mind, and spirit through non-invasive, gentle touch.
